What's On In April [2022]

Well wasn't March a bit of a write-off? It's true we have experienced some of the darkest days in our retail careers, but we have also been utterly overwhelmed by the support, love & well wishes of this great audio community that we are a part of. 

Briefly, for those who were unaware, we had a 1 in a 100-year flood in Lismore (make that 2 in a 100-year flood in the space of 3 weeks 🤷🏻‍♀️). It decimated the CBD and several surrounding suburbs. At the moment, we no longer have a shop. It took out our retail space, along with all of our stock and as a result, we threw out 95% of our waterlogged speakers & we are still hopeful to revive some of our electronics (for display only) through a vigorous method of water torture / CPR, not traditionally recommended, but vital to our business's survival.

To be expected, we are still processing the devastation. The true extent of what has happened in town, to our neighbours, our family & friends, & to our own small business could never be expressed in news footage or measly words in a blog. To be honest, we actually don't want to keep harping on about it, it's too painful & we feel like we just need to keep moving. So the purpose of all of this is to highlight something else altogether - the outpouring of encouragement we have received during this awful season.

With all tragedies come great stories of defiance, grit & hope. What this situation has highlighted to us is the camaraderie of our beloved audio industry. We have seen distributors, international brands & audio news outlets like Stereonet offer up massive financial reprieves, donating display stock for when we are ready to rebuild (which we definitely will, more on that in due course). We even saw our 'competing' hi-fi stores/friends put forward huge chunks of cash via a GoFundMe campaign that was set up to assist Nat & Renae in their recovery efforts. 

Overall, it's been an overwhelming response from our customers & industry friends & it's one that we will not soon forget. 

Although we would love to call you all out by name, we are reluctant to, just in case we miss anyone unintentionally. For those who like to have a stickybeak, check out the full list of donors on the GoFundMe & consider giving them a hug or high-five from us! NB: Quite a few BIG BIG donors have also contributed behind the scenes, so please shake their hands or give them a cuddle in spirit.

The LENC crew want to continue the love-fest by thanking all of you, our dear customers. You have shown your support by coming out of the woodwork & purchasing some serious big-ticket items from our online store this month. It has given us a great deal of hope that we have a business worth fighting for. It's now our duty to continue selling & educating the masses about all things audio. So let's get on with it, shall we?!
