Meze 109 Pro Open-Back Headphones

The first dynamic open-back headphone from Meze Audio, the 109 Pro is a demonstration of our commitment to go beyond the faithful reproduction of sound to deliver pure emotion.

It all started with a purpose – creating joy. It’s about letting yourself get lost in sound, about that intimate connection you have with your favourite artist, song or instrument, when all distractions are removed.

Diaphragm Design

The heart of these headphones is the 109 series Dual-Composites diaphragm. It combines different materials for better performance. The dome, shaped like a W, is made of a lightweight but strong cellulose composite reinforced with carbon fibre. This allows it to produce high frequencies (5Hz-30KHz) with excellent detail and clarity. The dome's composite is better than traditional options because it's lightweight and stiff, which prevents distortions caused by vibrations.

The dome is surrounded by a very thin ring (22 microns) made of a Beryllium-coated polymer. This enhances clarity and speed of sound. Beryllium also reduces unwanted resonances, resulting in a more natural and transparent listening experience.

To minimise distortion even further, a ring-shaped stabiliser made of a copper-zinc alloy absorbs vibrations.

The diaphragm is housed in a sturdy aluminium frame with a flawless surface finish.

Acoustic Design

The earcup of Meze Audio's latest design features a spider-shaped structure and a grill that allows sound to pass through without obstruction. This innovative configuration exposes the driver from both sides, resulting in Meze Audio's most open design yet. The driver is positioned at an accurate angle and distance from the ear, ensuring an ideal anatomical fit that enhances the natural listening experience.

For utmost comfort, the earpads are made of soft and breathable velour material, combined with memory foam that gently surrounds the ears. This combination creates a perfect seal, immersing the listener in the sound.

To provide a comfortable experience, the headband is made of self-adjusting spring steel. It evenly distributes the weight, alleviating pressure and allowing the listener to fully enjoy the moment without discomfort.

Great Company and great Headphones

First time customer with Living Entertainment but I wanted the Meze 109 Pro headphones with the balanced cable and they had both. Was a little hesitant at first as these headphones are not cheap but I decided to proceed and boy o boy was I glad that I did. The headphones and cable sound as good as they look, depending on the recording quality they can be a bit bright in the treble end, but once you throw the right song at them wow do they come to life. I am hearing instruments that I had not heard before and it is a joy playing my favourite tracks again. I think that there is no one headphone that can do everything great (unless you spend thousands) and the Meze 109 Pro will be staying in my collection sitting beside my HD800s and Arya stealth. So glad that I purchased these and would have no problem ordering products from Living Entertainment again. The company has been fantastic throughout the process making sure I am happy with the headphones, give them a go, both the 109's and First time customer with Living Entertainment but I wanted the Meze 109 Pro headphones with the balanced cable and they had both.
