NAD took form when a large group of audio-industry importers in Europe, all music lovers, set out to develop products that cut through the industry hype.
The story of NAD Electronics began in London, England in 1972, when a group of audio enthusiasts including Martin Borish and Dr. Martin L. "Marty" Borish, formed a new company with the goal of producing high-quality audio equipment at affordable prices.
The name NAD stands for "New Acoustic Dimension," reflecting the company's commitment to innovative design and engineering that would enhance the listening experience. In its early years, NAD focused on producing amplifiers & preamplifiers, including the iconic 3020 integrated amplifier, which became one of the most popular hi-fi products of all time.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, NAD continued to innovate with products such as the 208 power amplifier, the 2200 power amplifier, and the 5000 CD player. NAD was also one of the first companies to recognise the importance of home theatre & surround sound, & produced the first Dolby Pro Logic receiver.
In 1991, NAD was acquired by the Canadian electronics company Lenbrook Industries, which brought a new level of financial stability & expanded distribution channels to the brand. This allowed NAD to continue its focus on producing high-quality, affordable audio equipment while also expanding into new markets.
Today, NAD continues to innovate with products such as the Masters Series M10 streaming amplifier, which combines high-end audio performance with advanced streaming capabilities. The brand's commitment to exceptional sound quality, thoughtful design, & affordability remains as strong as ever, making it a favourite among audiophiles and music lovers around the world.
